2011 Seminar open for registration
Join fellow public information officers from
throughout North Carolina on Friday, Nov. 18 for the N.C. Association of
Government Information Officers (NCAGIO) Annual Seminar. This year’s seminar
will take place at the Friday Center on the campus of the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with the seminar starting
at 9 a.m. and ending at 4:30 p.m.
The NCAGIO seminar marks one of the best
opportunities for professional development and a chance to network with other
public information officers.
The NCAGIO board is putting together a
comprehensive seminar geared toward helping you do your job as a communicator
more effectively and efficiently. But this event is also one of the best
opportunities to trade ideas and best practices with each other.
Highlights of this year’s seminar include a
discussion with keynote speaker Dr. William C. Friday, president emeritus of the
University of North Carolina system. Dr. Friday will offer his perspectives on
the genesis and long-term success of public television’s North Carolina People.
Also featured is a presentation from town of Garner representatives on how to
handle a media frenzy when your community becomes home to the next “American
Idol.” We’ll also announce the winners of this year’s Excellence in
Communications Awards. Stay tuned for more details on the program as they
develop!
Once again, we have reduced the cost of the
seminar to $40 for members and $50 for non-members. Lunch will be provided as
part of the seminar cost. Also, we will have morning and afternoon breaks for
those of you needing your coffee and refreshments fix.
Attached is the registration form. You may also
find the form on the NCAGIO website at www.ncagio.org and on the NCAGIO Facebook
page at www.facebook.com/ncagio.
The deadline to register is Wednesday, Nov. 9.
